2016 Young Women in Excellence

Young Women in Excellence for 2016 was at the end of October. We felt so strongly that we needed to focus on our Young Women and helping them answer the question Who Am I? First of all, we created a video presentation that featured each of the girls. We asked 4 individuals from our Ward family (family and/or friends) to take about 15 seconds to tell us the divine qualities they see in the Young Woman they were assigned. Then we took the video clips and put them together into one video. Another part of the video came from an activity our Beehive president found on Pinterest called Board of Inspiration. We had each Young Woman one at a time stand with their back to the chalkboard. Then all of the other Young Women went to the chalkboard and wrote all of the divine qualities they could think about that person. We took still shots and video of the girls. They loved this activity. The other thing we did for the video was recorded the Young Women singing the song Beautiful to Him. This became part of the video. For decorations we used teal and burlap and lace. Floating roses for centerpieces. Then I bought a bunch of picture frames from the dollar tree and filled them full of quotes about women and their divine nature and used these for centerpieces.

As always, we wanted to give each Young Woman a gift. I saw an idea on Pinterest, and then adapted it to our Young Women. We had each Young Woman write down their testimony. It was so neat to see the different levels they are each at. Some of their testimonies are so simple, and some were more detailed, but the important thing to me was that they all had testimonies. We also took all of their pictures. Then we created a gift for the girls that had their testimony, their picture, etc. (See the pictures below of two samples). The words below their pictures were taken straight from the things said about them in the video.

We also created a thing for them to hang in the bathroom on their mirror.

It was beautiful and it seemed to truly hit on point with each of the Young Women.
